Ingredient Database:
vitamin c

Simple Definition: Also known as ascorbic acid. Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that can be synthesized in the body by most animals (with a few exceptions, including humans, that need to get it from their diet).

Vitamin C is best known for being needed to make collagen (for connective tissue), and for deficiencies causing scurvy.

Our Comments:

Ferrets likely don't need supplementation for this vitamin, as it is only known to be needed for some select primates, rodents, bats, fish and birds. It can however work as a natural preservative so its presence in a food may still serve some purpose
